Fundraising off to a ‘Wheelie’ Great Start, with £600 Raised for CATTs at House Digital Bikeathon!

At the start of this year, we teamed up with CATTs (Cancer Awareness for Teens & Twenties) and launched a plan to come up with an array of fabulous fundraising events in an effort to help with raising awareness and boosting vital funds for the charity.

Well, our first event took place on Tuesday last week in the form of an in-agency Bikeathon, and we are immensely proud to announce that we peddled all the way to victory – smashing straight through the £500 target we had set for this event alone!

On the morning of the event, clutching their water bottles and donning their gym gear, our fourteen strong team of fundraisers prepared themselves to jump in the saddle of the agency-exercise bike – kindly donated for the day by HD Head of Client Services, Simon Jones. With a healthy dose of competition in the air, the challenge got underway! Each of our cyclists proceeded to peddle their hearts out in 30 minute blocks over seven continuous hours. And the result? A whopping 178 miles cycled overall, and £606 raised for the amazing CATTs charity!

Alice, Head of Development at CATTs was thrilled with result:

“A massive thank you to the 14 determined bikers and their supporters in the House Digital all day Bikeathon! The blood, sweat and tears are definitely appreciated. We cannot express enough how much this partnership means to CATTs and what amazing work we can do from the fundraised money. As a small charity, to have so many people put in such hard work into an event like this, it just means the world. With the money raised, we will be able to reach more people with our cancer awareness messaging and continue to empower people to know and listen to their own bodies.”

Everyone at House Digital would like to say a huge thank you to all those who kindly supported us through this challenge and made such generous donations! Despite the sweaty t-shirts, red faces and jelly legs, we absolutely loved taking part and are happy to have achieved a brilliant outcome for such a worthy cause.

Aimee Jones, SEO Account Manager & member of House’s charity committee, at House Digital commented:

“The office bikeathon was such an amazing day in the office. Knowing you’re raising money for an important cause made it even more motivating, with the added appeal of challenging your colleagues to see who had the speediest legs! It’s time to get cracking on the planning for the next event… watch this space!”

Rachel Birch, Director at House Digital and fastest peddler on the day(!) said:

I’m incredibly proud of the team for all the hard work they put into coordinating the Bikeathon event and it was wonderful to see so much enthusiasm for the task in hand on the day! We’re thrilled to have raised such a fantastic sum of money for CATTs in our first fundraising outing of 2022, and I’ve no doubt that we’ll outdo ourselves when the next one comes around – whatever the challenge may be!

There’s still a long way to go until we hit our overall £5,000 target for the whole of 2022, but we’re sure you’ll agree that we’ve got ourselves off to a ‘wheelie’ fantastic start!

We’d encourage everyone to continue following our progress throughout the year, and keep an eye out for new event announcements on our socials and Just Giving page. We cannot wait to plan our next big challenge and raise even more money for CATTs, so that they can continue with the fundamental work they carry out in promoting awareness of signs and symptoms of cancer in young people.
