Background

EGO is an online, trend-led clothing brand representing a movement of confident and empowered women from around the world. They provide bold styles for fashion-forward females who like to stay one step ahead of the rest. If there’s a new trend, EGO will have it. They’re constantly developing their collection with all of the latest styles, fresh off the catwalk. 

As popular as EGO are, their SEO game was lacking in certain aspects, namely targeted backlinking activity and high ranking keywords. In order to drive more traffic to both EGO’s UK and US websites, ranking positions for high impression keywords needed to improve. EGO had all of the potential, but  needed to give their organic search activity a big boost to really thrive on the SERPs. This is where House Digital stepped in.

There was a huge window of opportunity for EGO to target high search volume keywords to secure higher rankings and outshine their competitors. They had a number of technical issues regarding hreflang across their website too, which was also hampering their success and causing them to rank lower on Google.

House Digital identified that there were over 800 URLs with hreflang annotations that did not have a reciprocal alternative, and approximately 18% of the website had missing hreflang annotations. There were also a number of alternate links pointing to 404s that were therefore not reciprocating. These issues all required immediate attention and this is exactly what we did!

What We Did

So we’d identified the problem, but it was then time to fix it! We got straight to work on a sitewide keyword strategy for both UK and US websites, which saw huge increases in keyword ranking positions. The total number of ranking keywords has continued to grow throughout the course of our SEO activity, thanks to ongoing page optimisation and link building work. 

But that’s not all! We’re continuing to see fantastic improvements in the number of ranking keywords in the top three organic positions. EGO now has over 2.1k non-branded keywords in positions one to three, over 3.7k keywords on page one and 2.4k on page two. During the past 6 months of SEO activity, a total of 3,660 keywords have improved!

Since we started working together, overall clicks and impressions to both the EGO UK and US websites have improved, with priority keywords such as  “platform heels” and “heels” being an area of great success, especially when compared to competitors.

We’re also delighted to see that our backlinking activity is paying off, with the keywords being used for anchor text seeing massive improvements on the SERPs. Root domains and backlinks to the site are steadily increasing, causing noticeable improvements in EGO’s  DA and DR!

On top of our keyword strategy, we also provided optimised content creation and on-page optimisation, conducted regular technical crawls and advised on all-important technical SEO fixes.
