SiS & PhD wanted to do more in the digital sphere and knew they needed to invest more heavily in SEO specifically. The challenge was undoing years of decisions made without SEO in mind and working to grow organic presence for non-branded terms.
Background
Science in Sport & PhD are two leading brands within the sports industry that develop and manufacture innovative nutrition products for athletes, sports & fitness enthusiasts, and the gym lifestyle community. Despite boasting an incredibly loyal customer base already, both brands wanted to grow their success by investing more heavily in their digital presence through SEO.
Upon auditing their digital activity to date, we saw organic and direct sessions dropping YoY for both brands, with the biggest impact felt in Q4 last year.
It became clear that the main challenge for us was going to be reviewing and reversing years of marketing decisions made without SEO in mind. Plenty to get our teeth stuck into!
Our aim was to work alongside internal teams at SiS & PhD to drive significant growth by boosting organic presence for non-branded terms, and putting strong SEO foundations in place.
We got to work straight away implementing a large scale optimisation project, alongside a new and improved keyword strategy across both sites to prevent cannibalisation.
In addition to this, we introduced a 6 month technical roadmap, which included resolution of a whole host of technical issues across the site – especially around hreflang tags, and optimised blog pages to gain increased visibility on the SERPs.
We were absolutely thrilled with the results that we saw from our efforts in only an 8 month period!
